CLASSSUMMARY: This is the first of three levels in the Human Resources series. Incumbents coordinate the activities and functions of an assigned human resources function, such as staffing or benefits. Responsibilities may include reviewing, compiling, and analyzing operational data; analyzing service offerings and programs and recommending changes; implementing and performing daily processes and procedures; and informing employees, candidates, and other constituents of service offers, processes and procedures, and changes to programs. PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS AN ENTRY LEVEL HUMAN RESOURCES POSITION. THE IDEAL APPLICANT WILL HAVE STRONG DATA ENTRY SKILLS AND COMPUTER LITERACY. EXPERIENCE WITH EMPLOYEE ON-BOARDING/ORIENTATION, DATA ANALYTICS, AND PUBLIC SPEAKING, AS WELL AS SHRM CERTIFICATION, ARE A PLUS BUT NOT REQUIRED. THIS POSITION WILL REMAIN OPEN THROUGH FEBRUARY 12, 2024, OR UNTIL FILLED.

Example of Duties

TYPICAL CLASS ESSENTIAL DUTIES:(These duties are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.)

  1. Coordinates the activities and functions of an assigned human resources function, which includes recommending program changes. coordinating programs, enrolling program participants, preparing annual projections, and recommending vendors.
  2. Participates in staffing duties, which includes informing candidates of hiring information, following-up with candidates, and performing related duties.
  3. Answers questions related to employee benefits and responds to and resolves complaints regarding employee benefits.
  4. Prepares and maintains a variety of operational records and reports; reconciles and verifies information as necessary; prepares and distributes billings.
  5. Communicates benefit updates, changes, offers, processes, procedures, program changes, and reminders to employees and retirees.
  6. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
Typical Qualifications

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE(positions in this class typically require): Associate's degree in human resources, business, or a related field, and five years human resources experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking; hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking a d standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
