Summary of Objective:

The HR Specialist plays a critical role in supporting the organization’s human resources functions, ensuring that the organization attracts and retains the best talent, promotes employee well-being, and maintains compliance with employment laws and regulations. This involves assisting with the development and implementation of HR initiatives that will increase organizational effectiveness, build capability and derive the full potential of the workforce. Essential functions include but are not limited to: Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) administration, recruitment, onboarding, benefits, training, implementing policies, employee investigations and procedure compliance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The essential duties and responsibilities include the following but other duties may be assigned.

  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with internal stakeholders to provide support on organizational matters, serving as an HR champion to leaders.

  • Deliver training to all new Union and Temp to Perm staff.

  • Provide first-line support for all employee inquiries and address and resolve employee relations concerns in a timely and responsive manner.

  • Responsible for processing union benefits reports, enrollments, terminations, supplemental benefits, 401K enrollments, and other reports as necessary.

  • Coordinate all new hire paperwork and ensure all pertinent information is entered into payroll/HRIS systems to ensure regulatory compliance.

  • Help develop, implement, maintain, and manage the company’s labor relations education and training programs.

  • Work as part of a passionate and results-driven team to execute creative HR programs alongside business processes and procedures that align with PCI’s company policies. Assist Talent Acquisition team as necessary with recruiting and onboarding. Responsible for assisting in developing and implementing administrative procedures and executing improvements through Human Resources and other departmental areas.

  • Track FMLA/ Leave claims status submitted to third party from submission to end date.

  • Supports internal investigations; provide support for conflict resolution; monitor counseling situations; and terminations as necessary.

  • Support and maintain the employee engagement programs and initiatives that support PCI’s organizational goals and culture.

  • Process unemployment claims, this includes providing timely protests to PA UC and representing the company on unemployment hearings.

  • Support org level change management processes and initiatives with line management.

  • Demonstrate full ownership of all aspects of specialized HR projects and see them through to completion.

  • Drive human resource compliance efforts by ensuring guidelines and policies are consistent and enforced in the areas of AAP, EEOC, ADA, FLSA, etc.

  • Prepare, trend, and present HR metrics. This includes weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting. Maintains strict confidentiality in daily operations.

  • This position may require overtime and/or weekend work.

  • Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge of HR trends and best practices.

  • Knowledge of and adherence to all PCI, cGMP, and GCP policies, procedures, rules.

  • Attendance at work is an essential function of this position.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by Manager/Supervisor.

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.

  • Availability across three (3) shifts to maintain strong labor relations.

  • College Level Mathematical Skills

  • Intermediate Computer Skills: Ability to perform more complex computer tasks and has knowledge of various computer programs.

  • Full Professional Proficiency: Ability to speak, read, and write fluently and accurately on all levels pertinent to professional needs.

  • Other Required Skills.

Preferred

  • 1-3 years related experience and/or training.

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize with minimal direction.

  • Mature judgement, initiative, poise, tact, affability, trustworthiness, and the ability to work independently with minimal direction.

  • Enjoys working with detail and staying organized but flexible enough to easily adapt to changing priorities.

  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP Certification

  • Knowledge and/or experience in multiple HR disciplines (i.e. employee engagement, leadership development; strategic staffing; performance management; talent management; workforce effectiveness; succession planning; organizational development, design & effectiveness; legal compliance; rewards and recognition, etc.).
